From 16 – 30 June, Gelsenkirchen is one of ten cities across Germany hosting matches for the UEFA EURO 2024. With less than 100 days to go, Gelsenkirchen is getting ready for a fan fest extravaganza when England plays Serbia in the Arena AufSchalke on June 16.

In addition to the games, a number of football related events will be hosted in Gelsenkirchen as part of the EURO2024 celebration. The city and its residents are known for creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for all fans, guests and locals alike. Some fans might recall the FIFA World Cup Fan Fest in 2006, when thousands of England fans visited Gelsenkirchen to support their team in the quarter-final. The Trabrennbahn in Gelsenkirchen turned into Germany’s largest party venue for fans of the Three Lions. This year, Gelsenkirchen plans to create a special Fan Zone for England fans yet again: The Trabrennbahn in the heart of Gelsenkirchen will be an exclusive meeting point for fans visiting us from the UK. Even if you don’t have a ticket for the tournament, join us for the party and please spread the word and bring your friends, family and colleagues to join thousands of other fans for the ultimate EURO2024 experience in Gelsenkirchen.

Prior to kick-off on June 16, a special EURO2024 Festival for England fans will take place on the Trabrennbahn racecourse in the heart of Gelsenkirchen. Admission to the Fan Fest is free and the event will feature music, games, food (and beer) trucks in addition to public viewing areas with a capacity to host up to 40.000 fans. All EURO2024-matches of the day will be screened. Contrary to earlier announcements, beer will be served in Gelsenkirchen throughout the summer. There will be a free shuttle bus service connecting Gelsenkirchen’s central station with the Trabrennbahn and with the Arena AufSchalke where the match will take place. An alternative route via Essen Hauptbahnhof/Central Station is available: tram line 107 will take visitors from Essen’s central station to the Trabrennbahn (Linie 107, the stop is named Gelsenkirchen Trabrennbahn). Fans who visited the Trabrennbahn for the FIFA World Cup Fan Fest in Gelsenkirchen in 2006 will remember the fantastic atmosphere of the “Fußballmärchen” (football fairy-tale) in Gelsenkirchen. The city is inviting fans and friends of all ages, from home and abroad, to be part of this year’s football party. Gelsenkirchen’s local police force, Polizei Gelsenkirchen, will ensure your EURO2024 experience is safe and secure and will help you to find your way around.

A new, additional campsite in the nearby Revierpark Nienhausen will be able to accommodate up to 7000 Fans. For further information on Gelsenkirchen and the EURO2024 please visit our websites https://visit.gelsenkirchen.de or https://uefaeuro2024.gelsenkirchen.de
